In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,02,808 registered voters, of which 1,05,483 were male, 1,02,059 female and 14 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,84,841 registered voters in this constituency, of which 91,895 were male, 92,910 female and 36 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,76,992 which included 86,670 male, and 90,322 female.

In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, Sri Purnachandra Prasad Parvatha of YSRCP won in this constituency beating Varupula Raja of TDP by a margin of 4,611 votes which was 2.8% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Varupula Subbarao of YSRCP was the winner in this seat beating Parvatha Sri Satyanarayanamurthy of TDP by a margin of 3,413 votes which was 2.3% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Parvatha Srisatyanarayana Murthy of TDP won this seat defeating Varupula Subbarao of INC by a margin of 3,286 votes which was 2.47% of the total votes polled for the seat.
