Assembly constituency no.77. Mahishi comprises of the following areas of Saharsa district in the Koshi region of Bihar: CD Blocks Nauhatta & Sattar Katiya; Gram Panchayats Baghwa, Birgaun, Manwar, Telwa West, Telwa East, Bhalahi, Kundah, Mahisarho, Telhar, Pastpar & Arapatti of Mahishi CD Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 418.39 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Mahishi is: 25°57'15.5"N 86°28'59.2"E.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Gunjeshwar Sah of JDU won in this constituency beating Gautam Krishna of RJD by a margin of 1630 votes which was 0.93% of the total votes cast. In 2015, Dr Abdul Ghafoor of RJD was the winner in this seat beating Chandan Kumar Sah of BLSP by a margin of 26135 votes which was 17.95% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2010 Assembly elections, Dr Abdul Gafoor of RJD won this seat defeating Raj Kumar Sah of JDU by a margin of 1717 votes which was 1.46% of the total votes polled for the seat.
