Valmiki Nagar comprises of the following areas of Paschim Champaran district in the Tirhut region of Bihar: CD Blocks Piprasi, madhubani, Thakrahan & Bhitaha; Gram Panchayats Valmiki Nagar, laxmipur Rampurwa, Santpur Soharia, Champapur Gonauli, Naurangia Dardahi, mahuawa Katharawa, Harnatand, Balua Chhatraul, Taruanawa Dewaria, Bharachhi, Belahawa madanpur, Bakuli Panchgwa, Binwalia Bodhser, Nayagaon Rampur, mangalpur Ausani, Borawal Narawal, Semra Kathakuia, Jamunapur Tarwalia, Jimari Nautanawa & Dholbajwa laxmipur of Sidhaw CD Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1290.47 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Valmiki Nagar is: 26°59'51.0"N 84°06'13.3"E.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Dhirendra Pratap Singh Alias Rinku Singh of JDU won in this constituency beating Rajesh Singh of INC by a margin of 21585 votes which was 11.04% of the total votes cast. In 2015, Dhirendra Pratap Singh Alias Rinku Singh of IND was the winner in this seat beating Irshad Hussain of INC by a margin of 33580 votes which was 18.17% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2010 Assembly elections, Rajesh Singh of JDU won this seat defeating Mukesh Kumar Kushwaha of RJD by a margin of 14671 votes which was 10.21% of the total votes polled for the seat.
