Kattakkada Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Thiruvananthapuram district in the Travancore region of Kerala: Kattakkada, Malayinkeezhu, Maranalloor, Pallichal, Vilappil and Vilavoorkal Panchayats in Neyyattinkara Taluk.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 117 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kattakkada is: 8°29'07.8"N 77°03'06.5"E.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Adv I B Satheesh of CPIM won in this constituency beating Malayinkeezhu Venugopal of INC by a margin of 23231 votes which was 16.03% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Adv. I.B. Satheesh of CPIM was the winner in this seat beating N.Shakthan of INC by a margin of 849 votes which was 0.59% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, N Sakthan of INC won this seat defeating Adv. M.V.Jayadali of IND by a margin of 12916 votes which was 11.01% of the total votes polled for the seat.
