Extent

Kodungallur Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Thrissur district in the Cochin region of Kerala: Kodungallur Municipality and Methala and Poyya Panchayats in Kodungaloor Taluk and Annamanada, Kuzhur, Mala, Puthenchira and Vellangallur Panchayats in Mukundapuram Taluk.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 171 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kodungallur is: 10°14'28.0"N 76°15'13.3"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 75%, while it was 79.54% in 2016, and 76.15% in 2011.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Adv V R Sunilkumar of CPI won in this constituency beating M P Jackson of INC by a margin of 23893 votes which was 19.94% of the total votes cast. In 2016, V R Sunilkumar of CPI was the winner in this seat beating K P Dhanapalan of INC by a margin of 22791 votes which was 15.34% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, T.N.Prathapan of INC won this seat defeating K.G.Sivanandhan of CPI by a margin of 9432 votes which was 7.33% of the total votes polled for the seat.
