Ottapalam Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Palakkad district in the Cochin region of Kerala: Ottappalam Municipality and Ambalapara, Kadampazhipuram, Karimpuzha, Lakkidi-Perur, Pookkottukavu, Sreekrishnapuram and Thachanattukara Panchayats in Ottappalam Taluk.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 279 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Ottapalam is: 10°50'49.9"N 76°25'17.8"E.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Adv K Premkumar of CPIM won in this constituency beating Doctor P Sarin of INC by a margin of 15152 votes which was 9.45% of the total votes cast. In 2016, P Unni of CPIM was the winner in this seat beating Adv.Shanimol Osman of INC by a margin of 16088 votes which was 10.71% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, M. Hamza of CPIM won this seat defeating V.K. Sreekandan of INC by a margin of 13203 votes which was 10.05% of the total votes polled for the seat.
