Udumbanchola Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Idukki district in the Cochin region of Kerala: Erattayar, Karunapuram, Nedumkandam, Pampadumpara, Rajakkad, Rajakumari, Santhanpara, Senapathy, Udumbanchola and Vandanmedu Panchayats in Udumbanchola Taluk.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 521 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Udumbanchola is: 9°50'32.6"N 77°09'50.8"E.

Mani of CPIM was the winner in this seat beating Adv.Senapathy Venu of INC by a margin of 1109 votes which was 0.88% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, K.K.Jayachandran of CPIM won this seat defeating Adv.Jossy Sebastian of INC by a margin of 9833 votes which was 8.89% of the total votes polled for the seat.
