Vaikom Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Kottayam district in the Travancore region of Kerala: Vaikom Municipality and Chempu, Kallara, Maravanthuruthu, T.V. Puram, Thalayazham, Thalayolaparambu, Udayanapuram, Vechoor and Velloor Panchayats in Vaikom Taluk.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 202 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Vaikom is: 9°42'36.0"N 76°25'43.0"E.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, C K Asha of CPI won in this constituency beating Dr P R Sona of INC by a margin of 29122 votes which was 22.95% of the total votes cast. In 2016, C K Asha of CPI was the winner in this seat beating Adv. A Saneeshkumar of INC by a margin of 24584 votes which was 18.62% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, K. Ajith of CPI won this seat defeating A Saneeshkumar of INC by a margin of 10568 votes which was 8.71% of the total votes polled for the seat.
