D.K.Murali of CPIM was the winner in this seat beating Adv.T.Sarathchandra Prasad of INC by a margin of 9596 votes which was 6.78% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Koliakode.N. Krishnan Nair of CPIM won this seat defeating Adv.C.Mohanachandran of INC by a margin of 2236 votes which was 1.81% of the total votes polled for the seat.
