In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, Kamlesh Jatav of INC won in this seat defeating Neha Kinnar of IND by a margin of 7,547 which was 6.04% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 29.89% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Satyaprakash of BSP emerged victorious in this seat beating Banshi Lal Jatav of BJP by a margin of 11,288 votes which was 10.16% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BSP had a vote share of 44.62% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Kamalesh Jatav of BJP won this seat beating Satya Prakash of BSP by a margin of 3,927 votes which was 4.92% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BSP had a vote share of 36.52% in the seat.

Assembly constituency no.8. Ambah comprises of the following areas of Morena district in the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh: Porsa Tehsil, 7 Rithona, 8 Ambah, 9 Badphara and 10 Dohara Patwari Circles of Ambah RI Circle of Ambah Tehsil and Ambah (M) Municipality.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 542 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Ambah is: 26°44'55.0"N 78°21'41.4"E.

A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Madhya Pradesh share borders with Ambah constituency, which are: Dimani, Mehgaon, Ater. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Agra district of Uttar Pradesh.
