In 2013, Vijay Singh of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Gajengra Singh of BJP by a margin of 1,820 votes which was 1.19% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 44.11% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Jamna Singh Solanki of BJP won this seat beating Kedar Chida Bhai Dawar of INC by a margin of 15,392 votes which was 14.99% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 50.94% in the seat.

Bhagwanpura comprises of the following areas of Khargone district in the Malwa Tribal region of Madhya Pradesh: Segaon Tehsil, Bhagwanpura Tehsil, 13 Rom-Chichali and 14 Barud Patwari Circles of Khargone RI Circle of Khargone Tehsil and 28 Dewali, 29 Kukdol, 30 Umarkhali, 31 Bistan, 32 Balgaon and 33 Nagziri Patwari Circles of Goganwa RI Circle of Khargone Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1,746 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Bhagwanpura is: 21°38'52.1"N 75°34'07.0"E.
