In 2013, Govind Singh Patel of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Suneeta Patel of IND by a margin of 25,313 votes which was 18.15% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 43.88% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Smt Sadhana Sthapak of INC won this seat beating Govind Singh Patel of BJP by a margin of 6,103 votes which was 5.56% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 32.71% in the seat.

Gadarwara comprises of the following areas of Narsinghpur district in the Mahakoshal region of Madhya Pradesh: Sainkheda and Chichli RI Circles of Gadarwara Tehsil, 17 Barheta, 18(1) Gadarwara (18 A), 18(2) Imaliya (18 B), 19 Kanhargaon, 20 Jhanjhankheda and 21 Kamti Patwari Circles of Gadarwara – RI Circle of Gadarwara Tehsil and Gadarwara (Municipality and Out Growth) – Municipality.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1,013 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Gadarwara is: 22°50'45.6"N 78°43'33.2"E.
