In 2013, Baboolal Gour of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Govind Goyal of INC by a margin of 70,644 votes which was 38.99% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 64.34% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Babulal Gaur of BJP won this seat beating Vibha Patel of INC by a margin of 33,754 votes which was 28.98% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 53.88% in the seat.

Assembly constituency no.154. Govindpura comprises of the following areas of Bhopal district in the Malwa North region of Madhya Pradesh: Ward No 53 to 55 and 59 to 63 and 65 of Bhopal (Municipal Corporation and Out Growth) of Huzur Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 74 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Govindpura is: 23°12'17.3"N 77°28'46.2"E.
