The geographic coordinates of Karera is: 25°34'19.2"N 78°09'39.6"E. Karera shares its borders with six other Assembly constituencies in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The other Madhya Pradesh Assembly constituencies adjacent to Karera are: Bhitarwar, Dabara, Datia, Pohari, Shivpuri, Pichhore. This constituency shares an inter-state border with: Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh.

Election results

In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, Jasmant of INC won in this seat defeating Rajkumar of BJP by a margin of 14,824 which was 8.55% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 37.01% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Smt Shakuntla Khatik of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Omprakash Khatik of BJP by a margin of 10,320 votes which was 6.28% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 36.11% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Khatik Ramesh Prasad of BJP won this seat beating Pragilal Jatav of BSP by a margin of 12,816 votes which was 12.24% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BSP had a vote share of 34.22% in the seat.
