In 2013, Rajendra Shyamlal Dadu(Raju Bhaiyya) of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Ramkishan Patel of INC by a margin of 22,178 votes which was 13.18% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 51.82% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Rajendra Shyamlal Dadu (Raju Bhaiya) of BJP won this seat beating Ramkisan Patel of INC by a margin of 1,586 votes which was 1.48% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 43.49% in the seat.

Nepanagar comprises of the following areas of Burhanpur district in the Malwa Tribal region of Madhya Pradesh: Nepanagar Tehsil, Khaknar Tehsil, 4 Nimbola, 8 Jainabad, 9 Dongargaon, 10 Daryapur Kala and 11 Badziri Patwari Circles of Burhanpur RI Circle of Burhanpur Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 2,346 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Nepanagar is: 21°25'24.2"N 76°24'22.3"E.

A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Madhya Pradesh share borders with Nepanagar constituency, which are: Harsud, Pandhana, Burhanpur, Bhikangaon. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Buldhana and Amravati districts of Maharashtra.
