In 2013, Omprakash Dhurwey of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Ganga Bai of INC by a margin of 32,681 votes which was 18.22% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 42.81% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Ganga Bai Ureti of INC won this seat beating Chainsingh of BJP by a margin of 19,935 votes which was 14.39% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 37.13% in the seat.

Assembly constituency no.103. Shahpura comprises of the following areas of Dindori district in the Mahakoshal region of Madhya Pradesh: Shahpura Tehsil and Shahpur and Amarpur RI Circles of Dindori Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 3,057 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Shahpura is: 23°01'38.6"N 80°50'05.6"E.
