In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, Shashank Shrikrishan Bhargava of INC won in this seat defeating Mukesh Tandon of BJP by a margin of 15,454 which was 10.1% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 52.51% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Shivraj Singh Chauhan of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Shashank Bhargava of INC by a margin of 16,966 votes which was 12.53% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 54.51% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Raghavji of BJP won this seat beating Shashank Bhargav of INC by a margin of 12,336 votes which was 13.54% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 48.02% in the seat.

Assembly constituency no.144. Vidisha comprises of the following areas of Vidisha district in the Malwa North region of Madhya Pradesh: Vidisha and Work Load RI Circles of Vidisha Tehsil, Vidisha (Municipality) Municipality and 3 Gulabganj RI Circle of Gyaraspur Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 802 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Vidisha is: 23°33'25.2"N 77°54'36.4"E.
