In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Zoramthanga of MNF won in this seat defeating K Sapdanga of IND by a margin of 2,504 which was 12.81% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 42.75% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, R Lalrinawma of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Lalhmangaiha Sailo of MPC by a margin of 422 votes which was 2.56% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 37.72% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, R Lalrinawma of INC won this seat beating F Malsawma of MNF by a margin of 1,089 votes which was 8.06% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 37.61% in the seat.

Assembly constituency no.13. Aizawl East - I comprises of the following areas of Aizawl district in the Aizwal region of Mizoram: Villages Sairum, Neihbawih, Sihphir/Sihphir Vengthar, Nausel, muthi, Bung IB, Tuirial Jail, Tuirial and Aizawl (Notified Town) - Wd No 4 – Zuangtui, Wd No 5 – Thuampui and Wd No 6 - Zemabawk in Tlangnuam R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 201 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Aizawl East - I is: 23°49'28.2"N 92°45'30.6"E.

A total of eleven Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram share borders with Aizawl East - I constituency, which are: Aizawl West-I, Aizawl North-I, Aizawl North-II, Aizawl East-II, Aizawl South-I, Aizawl South-II, Aizawl South-III, Tawi, Chalfilh, Tuivawl, Tuirial.
