In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Vanlaltanpuia of MNF won in this seat defeating V Malsawmtluanga of IND by a margin of 395 which was 2.77% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 35.26% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, P C Lalthanliana of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Dr K Vanlallawma of MNF by a margin of 870 votes which was 6.65% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 47.15% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Pc Lalthanliana of INC won this seat beating C Lalrinsanga of MNF by a margin of 705 votes which was 5.82% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 40.55% in the seat.

Lunglei North comprises of the following areas of Lunglei district in the South region of Mizoram: Wd No 8 Zohnuai, Wd No 9 Serkawn, Wd No 10 Zotlang, Wd No 11 Pukpui in lunglei (Notified Town) and Villages mausen, Haulawng, mualthuam 'N', Sekhum, Ramlaitui, Kanghmun 'S', Zote 'S', Chhipphir, Bualpui 'V', lungmawi, Zotuitlang, Hmuntlang, Phaileng 'S' and Chengpui in lunglei R D Block; and Villages Pangzawl, Thiltlang, and Rawpui in Hnahthial R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 605 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Lunglei North is: 23°04'59.5"N 92°49'03.4"E.
