The geographic coordinates of Serlui is: 24°18'45.7"N 92°46'26.4"E. Serlui shares its borders with three other Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram. The other Mizoram Assembly constituencies adjacent to Serlui are: Kolasib, Tuirial, Tuivawl. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with: Hailakandi and Cachar districts of Assam.

In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Lalrinsanga Ralte of MNF won in this seat defeating Lalhmachhuana of INC by a margin of 927 which was 5.77% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 38.17% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, K Lalrinthanga of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Lalhmingliana of MNF by a margin of 1,406 votes which was 10.06% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 40.52% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, K Lalrinthanga of INC won this seat beating D Thangliana of MNF by a margin of 924 votes which was 7.61% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 37.35% in the seat.

Serlui Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 0.02% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 87.55%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission of 2008. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 93.5%, according the Census of India, 2011.

Serlui comprises of the following areas of Kolasib district in the North region of Mizoram: Villages Phainuam, Saihapui V, Chite, Vakultui, N Chhimluang, N Chawnpui, Chemphai, Phaisen, Buhchangphai, N Thinglian, Bukvannei, Saihapui K, Parsenchhip, N Hlimen, Thingthelh, Vairengte (Notified Town), Bilkhawthlir, Rengtekawn and Builum in North Thingdawl R D Block; and Villages Saiphai and Saipum under Sakawrdai Sub-Division (Civil) in Thingdawl R D Block under Aizawl District.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 534 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Serlui is: 24°18'45.7"N 92°46'26.4"E.

A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram share borders with Serlui constituency, which are: Kolasib, Tuirial, Tuivawl. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with Hailakandi and Cachar districts of Assam.
