Demographic profile

There were a total of 1,63,716 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 78,436 were male, 85,261 female and 19 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 1,55,813 registered voters, of which 78,436 were male, 80,624 female and 7 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,37,416 registered voters in this constituency, of which 67,311 were male, 70,101 female and 4 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,18,756 which included 58,181 male, and 60,575 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Chakramani Kanhar of BJD won in this constituency beating Siman Mallick of INC by a margin of 6,910 votes which was 6.28% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Rajib Patra of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Klesa Pradhan of INC by a margin of 2,696 votes which was 2.67% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Karendra Majhi of BJP won this seat defeating Sadananda Mallick of INC by a margin of 3,237 votes which was 4.09% of the total votes polled for the seat.
