In 2014, Prafulla Samal of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Subrat Kumar Das of INC by a margin of 34,097 votes which was 22% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Prafulla Samal of BJD won this seat defeating Badri Narayan Dhal of INC by a margin of 20,410 votes which was 15.03% of the total votes polled for the seat.
