In 2014, Badri Narayan Patra of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Satyabrata Panda of BJP by a margin of 88,602 votes which was 53.72% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Badrinarayan Patra of BJD won this seat defeating Niranjan Patnaik of INC by a margin of 25,554 votes which was 17.34% of the total votes polled for the seat.
