In 2013, Sushil Katara of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Mahendra Kumar Barjod of INC by a margin of 20,313 votes which was 14.11% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 50.17% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Shanker Lal Ahari of INC won this seat beating Sushil Katara of BJP by a margin of 6,214 votes which was 5.74% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 42.49% in the seat.

Assembly constituency no.161. Chorasi comprises of the following areas of Dungarpur district in the South region of Rajasthan: Tehsil Simalwara, Tehsil Dungarpur (Partly) – (I) IlRC Genji (Partly) – (i) PC Renta (ii) PC Vikas Nagar (iii) PC Genji (iv) PC mahuri.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 932 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Chorasi is: 23°33'35.6"N 73°46'45.5"E.

A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Rajasthan share borders with Chorasi constituency, which are: Dungarpur, Aspur, Sagwara, Bagidora. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with Arvallli and Mahisagar districts of Gujarat.
