In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Varalakshmi M of DMK won in this constituency beating Gajendran M of AIADMK by a margin of 26665 votes which was 9.84% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Varalakshmi.M of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Kamalakkannan.R of AIADMK by a margin of 26292 votes which was 10.53% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, D. Murugesan of DMDK won this seat defeating V. G. Rangasamy of PMK by a margin of 291 votes which was 0.16% of the total votes polled for the seat.
