V.S of INC was the winner in this seat beating Ponnusamy. K of AIADMK by a margin of 10017 votes which was 5.48% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Ponnusamy.K of AIADMK won this seat defeating Jayanthi.R of DMK by a margin of 15025 votes which was 9.26% of the total votes polled for the seat.
