In 2016, Soundarapandian A of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Vijayamurthy M of AIADMK by a margin of 3837 votes which was 2.3% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Soundarapandian.A of DMK won this seat defeating Sendhureswaran.A.D of DMDK by a margin of 7155 votes which was 4.89% of the total votes polled for the seat.
