In 2016, Jayaramakrishnan R of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Manoharan K of AIADMK by a margin of 1667 votes which was 0.97% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, C.Shanmugavelu of AIADMK won this seat defeating M.P. Saminathan of DMK by a margin of 19669 votes which was 13.69% of the total votes polled for the seat.
