In 2016, Mariappankennady S of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Chitraselvi S of DMK by a margin of 14889 votes which was 8.03% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Gunasekaran.M of AIADMK won this seat defeating Tamilarasi.A of DMK by a margin of 14020 votes which was 8.67% of the total votes polled for the seat.
