Mettur Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Salem district in the North region of Tamil Nadu: Mettur Taluk (Part) Kaveripuram, Singiripatti, Thinnappatti, Konur, Koonandiyur, Pallipatti, Mallikundam, Thethagiripatti, Vellar, Pukkampatti, Amaram, M.Kallipatti, Pottaneri, Virudasampatti, Alamarathupatti, Lakkampatti, Kannamuchi, Moolakkadu, Samballi, Palamalai, Navappatti, Koppam, Koppampatti, Panapuram, Periyasattappadi, Chinnasathappadi, Aranganur, Olaipatti, Manathal, Nallakavundampatti and Kulanayakkanpatti villages. Mecheri (TP), Kolathur (TP), Veerakkalpudur (TP), Mettur (M) and P.N.Patti (TP).

This constituency covers an approximate area of 656 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Mettur is: 11°49'21.7"N 77°48'50.8"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 75.01%, while it was 78.91% in 2016, and 79.79% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Sadhasivam S of PMK won in this constituency beating Srinivasaperumal S of DMK by a margin of 656 votes which was 0.3% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Semmalai.S of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Parthiban.S.R of DMK by a margin of 6282 votes which was 3.03% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Parthiban.S.R. of DMDK won this seat defeating Mani.G.K. of PMK by a margin of 2594 votes which was 1.53% of the total votes polled for the seat.
