Mylapore Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Chennai district in the North region of Tamil Nadu: Chennai (M Corp.) (Part) Chennai (M Corp.) Ward No.94, 96, 115, 116 and 142 to 150.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 11 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Mylapore is: 13°01'45.1"N 80°15'51.1"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 56.6%, while it was 59.38% in 2016, and 66.4% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Velu Dha of DMK won in this constituency beating Nataraj R of AIADMK by a margin of 12633 votes which was 8.3% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Nataraj.R Ips (Rtd) of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Karate Thiagarajan.R of INC by a margin of 14728 votes which was 9.43% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Rajalakshmi R of AIADMK won this seat defeating Thangkabalu K V of INC by a margin of 29204 votes which was 20.44% of the total votes polled for the seat.
