In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Vaithilingam R of AIADMK won in this constituency beating Ramchandran M of DMK by a margin of 28835 votes which was 15.1% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Ramchandran. M of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Vaithilingam. R of AIADMK by a margin of 3645 votes which was 2.02% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, R.Vaithilingam of AIADMK won this seat defeating T.Mahesh Krishanasamy of DMK by a margin of 32644 votes which was 20.57% of the total votes polled for the seat.
