In 2016, Palaniyappan. P of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Sathiyamoorthy. A of PMK by a margin of 12713 votes which was 6.09% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Palaniappan P of AIADMK won this seat defeating Mullaiventhan V of DMK by a margin of 10489 votes which was 6.22% of the total votes polled for the seat.
