In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Krishnaswamy A of DMK won in this constituency beating Rajamannar S X of PMK by a margin of 94110 votes which was 36.08% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Elumalai T A of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Paranthamen I of DMK by a margin of 11763 votes which was 4.9% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Manimaran R of AIADMK won this seat defeating Kanchi Gv Mathiazhagan of INC by a margin of 41419 votes which was 22.82% of the total votes polled for the seat.
