Ramanathapuram Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Ramanathapuram district in the South region of Tamil Nadu: Rameswaram Taluk Ramanathapuram Taluk (Part) Attangarai, Perungulam, Valantaravai, Kusavankudi, Rajasuriamadai, Vellamarichukatti, Achadipirambu, Kuthakottai, Vannankundu, Raghunathapuram, Kumbaram, Rettaiyurani, Nagachi, Enmanamkondan, Pirappanvalasai, Sathakonvalasai, Mandapam, Nochiyurani, Pudumadam, Karan, Periapattinam, Kalimankundu, Tiruppullani, Kalari, Uthirakosamangai, Mallal, Alangulam, Nallirukkai, Panaydiyendal, Velanur, Kulapatham, Pallamorkulam, Kanjirangudi, Keelakarai, Manikkaneri, Pullandai and Mayakulam villages. In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Katharbatcha Muthuramalingam of DMK won in this constituency beating D Kuppuramu of BJP by a margin of 50479 votes which was 23.66% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Manikandan.M of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Jawahirullah.M.H of MAMAK by a margin of 33222 votes which was 17.21% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Jawahirulla of MAMAK won this seat defeating Hasan Ali K of INC by a margin of 15757 votes which was 9.81% of the total votes polled for the seat.
