In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Katharbatcha Muthuramalingam of DMK won in this constituency beating D Kuppuramu of BJP by a margin of 50479 votes which was 23.66% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Manikandan.M of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Jawahirullah.M.H of MAMAK by a margin of 33222 votes which was 17.21% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Jawahirulla of MAMAK won this seat defeating Hasan Ali K of INC by a margin of 15757 votes which was 9.81% of the total votes polled for the seat.
