Ranipet Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Vellore district in the North region of Tamil Nadu: Walajah Taluk (Part) Padiyampakkam, Sengadu, Vanapadi, Maniyambattu, Karai, Manthangal, Pinji, Anandhalai, Musiri, Valluvambakkam, Sumaithangi, Bagaveli, Thenkadappanthangal, Ammananthangal, Vannivedu, Navlock, Thengal, Kilminnal, Arapakkam, Melakuppam, Thimmanacherikuppam, Nandiyalam, Veppur, Gudimallur, Chennesamudram, Kadapperi, Poondi, Thirumalaicheri, Thalanur, Kathiavadi, Ayilam, Arunkundram, Kilkuppam, Koorambadi, Sathambakkam, Thiruparkadal and Kalmelkuppam villages. Ammoor (TP), Chettithangal (CT), Ranipet (M), Walajapet (M), Narasingapuram (CT) and Melvisharam (TP).

This constituency covers an approximate area of 273 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Ranipet is: 12°56'17.5"N 79°19'22.1"E.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, R Gandhi of DMK won in this constituency beating S M Sugumar of AIADMK by a margin of 16498 votes which was 8.02% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Gandhi.R of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Elumalai. C of AIADMK by a margin of 7896 votes which was 4.14% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, A.Mohammed John of AIADMK won this seat defeating Gandhi.R of DMK by a margin of 14201 votes which was 9% of the total votes polled for the seat.
