This constituency covers an approximate area of 587 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Rasipuram is: 11°29'24.7"N 78°09'29.2"E.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Mathiventhan M of DMK won in this constituency beating Saroja V Dr of AIADMK by a margin of 1952 votes which was 1% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Saroja V. Dr of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Duraisamy V.P of DMK by a margin of 9631 votes which was 5.15% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Dhanapal.P of AIADMK won this seat defeating Duraisamy.V.P of DMK by a margin of 24717 votes which was 15.24% of the total votes polled for the seat.
