In 2016, Raja.S of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Rajeswaran.T.K of INC by a margin of 37374 votes which was 17.31% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Vijayalakshmi Palanisamy.P of AIADMK won this seat defeating Veerapandi S.Arumugam of DMK by a margin of 35079 votes which was 18.98% of the total votes polled for the seat.
