Extent

Tambaram Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Kancheepuram district in the North region of Tamil Nadu: Tambaram Taluk (Part) Kadaperi, Tiruvancheri, Mudichur, Kasbapuram, Vengapakkam, Agaramthen, Kovilancheri, Madurapakkam and Moolacheri villages. Tambaram (M), Chitlapakkam (TP), Sembakkam (TP), Madambakkam (TP), Perungalathur (TP) and Peerkankaranai (TP).

This constituency covers an approximate area of 66 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Tambaram is: 12°54'33.5"N 80°07'40.8"E.

Voter turnout

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 59.55%, while it was 61.77% in 2016, and 69.93% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Raja S R of DMK won in this constituency beating Chinnaiyah T K M of AIADMK by a margin of 36824 votes which was 14.93% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Raja S R of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Rajendran C of AIADMK by a margin of 14445 votes which was 6.14% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, T. K. M. Chinneyah of AIADMK won this seat defeating S. R. Raja of DMK by a margin of 13984 votes which was 7.85% of the total votes polled for the seat.
