In 2016, Durai.Chandrasekaran of DMK was the winner in this seat beating M.G.M.Subramanian of AIADMK by a margin of 14343 votes which was 7.06% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, M.Rethinasami of AIADMK won this seat defeating S. Aranganathan of DMK by a margin of 12962 votes which was 7.46% of the total votes polled for the seat.
