In 2016, Nehru.K.N of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Manoharan.R of AIADMK by a margin of 28415 votes which was 15.84% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, N.Mariam Pitchai of AIADMK won this seat defeating K.N.Nehru of DMK by a margin of 7179 votes which was 4.65% of the total votes polled for the seat.
