In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, K Ponmudy of DMK won in this constituency beating Vat Kalivaradhan of BJP by a margin of 59680 votes which was 30.73% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Ponmudy K of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Gothandaraman G of AIADMK by a margin of 41057 votes which was 21.79% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Venkatesan.L of DMDK won this seat defeating Thangam. M of DMK by a margin of 8791 votes which was 5.53% of the total votes polled for the seat.
