Vellore Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Vellore district in the North region of Tamil Nadu: Vellore Taluk (Part) Sampanginallore, Venkatapuram, Perumugai and Alamelumangapuram villages. Sathuvacheri (TP), Vellore (M), Allapuram (TP), Thorapadi (TP) and Konavattam (CT).

This constituency covers an approximate area of 75 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Vellore is: 12°54'57.2"N 79°09'07.6"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 70.25%, while it was 68.61% in 2016, and 73.68% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Karthikeyan P of DMK won in this constituency beating Appu S R K of AIADMK by a margin of 9181 votes which was 5.14% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Karthikeyan of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Harun Rasheed of AIADMK by a margin of 26210 votes which was 15.3% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Vijay.Dr.V.S. of AIADMK won this seat defeating Gnanasekaran.C. of INC by a margin of 15176 votes which was 10.78% of the total votes polled for the seat.
