In 2016, Rathamani.K of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Velu R of AIADMK by a margin of 6912 votes which was 3.87% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Ramamurthy.R of CPIM won this seat defeating Rathamani.K of DMK by a margin of 14897 votes which was 9.8% of the total votes polled for the seat.
