Viralimalai Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Pudukkottai district in the Kaveri Delta region of Tamil Nadu: Illupur Taluk (Except Komangalam village). Kulathur Taluk (Part) Kumaramangalam, Mathur, Singathakuruchi, Sengalakkudi, Mandaiyur, Latchmanapatti, Mettupatti, Sivakamipuram, Thennathirayanpatti, Palandampatti, Kalamavur, Neerpalani, Amburapatti, Madayanaipatti, Suriyur, Perambur, Alangudi, Vadugappatti, Melappuduvayal, Kolathur, Odukkur and Vemmani villages. Manaparai Taulk (Part) (Triuchirapalli District) Kavinaripatti, Puthakudi and Kappakudi villages**. [**Although Kavinaripatti, Puthakudi and Kappakudi villages are in Triuchirapalli revenue district, they are physically and geographically located within the boundaries of 179- Viralimalai AC.]

This constituency covers an approximate area of 931 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Viralimalai is: 10°33'05.4"N 78°39'00.4"E.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Vijaya Basker C of AIADMK won in this constituency beating Palaniappan of DMK by a margin of 23598 votes which was 12.22% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Vijaya Baskar C of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Palaniappan M of DMK by a margin of 8447 votes which was 4.96% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Vijaya Basker. C of AIADMK won this seat defeating Regupathy. S of DMK by a margin of 39309 votes which was 28.48% of the total votes polled for the seat.
