In 2016, Kalaiselvan V T of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Govindasamy P of DMK by a margin of 13777 votes which was 7.44% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, V. Muthukumar of DMDK won this seat defeating T. Neethirajan of INC by a margin of 13641 votes which was 8.62% of the total votes polled for the seat.
