In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Nihar Ranjan Ghosh of TMC won in this constituency beating Dipankar Ram (Bankat) of BJP by a margin of 67338 votes which was 33.9% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Asif Mehbub of INC was the winner in this seat beating Soumitra Ray of TMC by a margin of 52368 votes which was 30.42% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Asif Mehbub of INC won this seat defeating Anjuman Ara Begam of CPIM by a margin of 14187 votes which was 10.07% of the total votes polled for the seat.
