Habibpur Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Malda district in the North Bengal region of West Bengal: 1. CDB Bamangola, 2. Aktail, Baidyapur, Bulbul Chandi, Dhumpur, Habibpur, Jajail, Kanturka and Mangalpur GPs of CDB Habibpur

This constituency covers an approximate area of 613 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Habibpur is: 25°03'56.2"N 88°20'39.8"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 79.04%, while it was 82.69% in 2016, and 84.35% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Joyel Murmu of BJP won in this constituency beating Prodip Baskey of TMC by a margin of 19517 votes which was 9.97% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Khagen Murmu of CPIM was the winner in this seat beating Amal Kisku of TMC by a margin of 2512 votes which was 1.36% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Khageneral Murmu of CPIM won this seat defeating Mohan Tudu of TMC by a margin of 2258 votes which was 1.43% of the total votes polled for the seat.
