In 2016, Md. Abdul Ghani of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Baidyanath Basu of CPIM by a margin of 24681 votes which was 11.63% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Abul Kasem Molla of TMC won this seat defeating Kazi Jafar Ahmed of CPIM by a margin of 27780 votes which was 14.67% of the total votes polled for the seat.
