This constituency covers an approximate area of 431 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kumarganj is: 25°25'21.7"N 88°43'00.1"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Toraf Hossain Mandal of TMC won in this constituency beating Manas Sarkar of BJP by a margin of 29367 votes which was 17.29% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Toraf Hossain Mandal of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Mafuja Khatun of CPIM by a margin of 3496 votes which was 2.27% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Begam Mahamuda of TMC won this seat defeating Khatun Mafuja of CPIM by a margin of 4218 votes which was 3.18% of the total votes polled for the seat.
